Located at 15 kilometers off the
Pointe du Roc, also called as Cap Lihou, Chausey has always lived in the
orbit of Granville... Chausey is Granville's island. The island is inhabited by a few fishermen. The island itself is all granite and from its quarries were carved the stones that built "Mont Saint-Michel" and paved the streets of Paris and London.

"Bisquines" were typicla fishing boats of the Mont Saint-Michel bay. The biggest bisquines mainly usedtrowls or dragnets to fish and, therefore, needed extraordinary wide sails. As for back mid 19th century, bisquines from the rival ports of Cancale and Granville competed in regatta. Then, a third level was added to the sails. Because they were determined to win for the honour of their region, harbour, and team, the builders, among whom the granvillian Louis JULIENNE, created boats of better performance. "The Granvillaise" was made from the original blueprint of the "Rose Marie": about 15,000people attended its launching on april 15th, 1990 along with its godfather, Michel Drucker ( celebrity of french TV )
